CIP Central Unit

Centralized Cleaning-in-Place Systems

Muninmax designs, manufactures and assembles CIP central units for project-specific cleaning requirements. Each system brings together cleaning-liquid tanks, circulation pumps, heating equipment, instrumentation and controls to serve the designated process circuits.

The configuration is developed around the equipment being cleaned, product residues, plant layout and available cleaning time.

Cleaning as Part of the Process

Cleaning-in-place circulates water and cleaning solutions through internal surfaces of equipment designed for CIP. The central unit supplies the cleaning media, while the connected piping and equipment determine the flow path, return conditions and surface coverage.

Effective cleaning depends on the relationship between time, temperature, flow and cleaning-solution concentration. These conditions are established for the product, equipment and cleaning procedure.

System Configuration

Standard and Economy Versions

MNM offers two CIP Central Unit versions:

  • Standard (STD): All-stainless-steel construction.
  • Economy: Polyethylene (PE) tanks for cleaning-solution and water storage.

Tank capacities, cleaning circuits and control functions are configured to suit each project.

Project-Specific Configuration

MNM configures tank arrangements, circulation equipment and heating duty to match the project. Tank functions can include alkaline and acid solutions, fresh water, hot water and recovered rinse water.

Circulation pumps and heat exchangers provide the required flow and heating. Instrumentation measures operating conditions such as flow, temperature, conductivity and tank level.

Tank capacities, materials and component selection are specified for the cleaning duty and installation requirements.

Cleaning Circuits and Recovery

MNM systems can serve multiple cleaning circuits, with sequential or simultaneous operation configured around the production schedule and available utilities.

Supply and return arrangements direct cleaning liquids through the selected circuit. Recovery functions can route suitable cleaning solutions or rinse water back to designated tanks for further use. Recovery and discharge criteria are defined for the application.

Automation, Monitoring and Records

The MNM system scope can include:

  • PLC and HMI control for operation, status display and cleaning-programme selection.
  • Automatic chemical dosing to adjust cleaning-solution concentration.
  • Circuit-specific cleaning programmes with defined sequences and operating conditions.
  • Interlocks for tank level, flow, temperature, valve routing and separation between production and cleaning circuits.
  • Operating histories and report export for reviewing cleaning cycles and recorded conditions.
  • Production-line integration for coordinating cleaning status and operating permissions.

Conductivity measurement supports concentration assessment using the appropriate relationship for the selected chemical and temperature. The functions included in each installation are defined in the agreed project scope.

Integration and Cleaning-Performance Verification

A complete project scope identifies the central unit, its connections and the responsibilities for the supply and return circuits. Interfaces with the production equipment and plant controls are defined during project development.

Functional testing checks equipment operation, instrumentation and control sequences. Muninmax and the customer jointly define and carry out cleaning-performance verification within the agreed scope, including the methods, acceptance criteria and responsibilities.

Cleaning-cycle records support this assessment; completion of a programmed cycle alone does not establish that the required cleanliness has been achieved.
